Hvar is a lovely island. The highlight is the ravishing little harbour town of Hvar and this is the best place to rent your Hvar apartment. Here there are beautifully preserved public buildings, cafes and shops around a square at the head of which is a church that looks back down the square to the sea. Croatian Affair offer some lovely Hvar apartments that are only a few metres away from this fabulous area. This is a really great place to stay for one or two weeks. A car is not needed since boats and ferries provide all your local transportation. In fact getting to your Hvar apartment in the first place is an easy trip; on arrival you can catch a taxi from Split airport to the port, and from there ferries and hydrofoils provide regular connections to Hvar Island from early in the morning to late in the evening.
The area by the seafront of Hvar Town is called the Riva. It is sprinkled with the awnings of cafes, shaded by palm trees and looks out onto the blue waters of the harbour and the yachts moored there. It is tremendous fun.
Positioned at the heart of the old town, we have some lovely Hvar apartments that can be rented. They have been recently created from a historic 15th Century town house and are modernised with air-conditioning, as well as having fully equipped kitchens, and living area with comfortable seating and satellite TV. You are a stone’s throw from the Riva where you can find many restaurants, shops and bars that give Hvar its special atmosphere. Hvar has two shingle beaches that are 10-15 minutes walk from your Hvar apartment; however if you want to bathe in one of the nearby islands, there are numerous water taxis that you can catch. In particular you can take a short trip to the Pakleni islands and have a wonderful day enjoying its beaches as well as some trying one one of its fairly rustic but beautifully located restaurants. Whilst you are enjoying your holiday in your Hvar apartment, you will also find plenty of galleries and museums nearby, as well as musical concerts that regularly take place. But one of the most enjoyable ways to spend your time is just to sit back, and relax in a waterside café, order a glass or two of locally made wine such as Faros, Ivan Dolac or Zlatni Plavac and contemplate which restaurant you want to stroll to for your evening meal – at the end of the day you can stroll back again to your Hvar apartment.
