It is amazing that, when you stay in your Korcula apartment, there is so much to see in one small island. After you have driven for about 2 hours from Dubrovnik, you arrive at the town of Orebic at the end of the Peljesac peninsula. From here there are regular ferry services from early in the morning to late in the evening that connect the mainland at Orebic to Korcula Island. The ferry lands at Korcula Town which is small but charming, and sticks out to the sea on a rocky promontory. When you rent a Korcula apartment, one of the great things is to be able to eat out; there are restaurants on the east side of the town, under the shade of pine trees, which also give beautiful views of the sea and Orebic. At intervals steps lead down from the town wall to the rocks below; it is fun to look down on people snoozing in the sun, picnicking on the rocks and swimming in the sea. Sometimes you see fishermen at work. You should try restaurants such as Marinero, Morski Konjic and Kanavelicevi Dvori. The centre also has a colourful fruit and vegetable market, ideal for stocking up the fridge in your Korcula apartment.

Apart from visiting Korcula Town from your apartment in Korcula for food and drink, you will find that if you explore the centre you will discover a real gem. It was heavily influenced by the Venetians who were here for centuries, and its public buildings are decorated with wonderful stone carvings. The interior of St Marks Cathedral is one of the loveliest in the country, and the paintings in the Bishops’ Treasury are some of the best in Croatia.

Our Korcula apartments are located around the Island. For example you could stay in Lumbarda, just 7km from Korcula Town, which has both a sandy and pebble beach as well as several bars, shops and good restaurants. Alternatively you could stay in one of our Korcula apartments near to Vela Luka on the north side of the Island. Around here you can find some beautiful, peaceful spots with nothing other than a few fishing boats bobbing in the water. Vela Luka itself has an attractive seafront with a number of bars and restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy the sea views. The restaurant called More Konoba is recommended, but there are plenty of others.
